Whoopie Pies

Sometimes it is necessary to bake something other than the norm, and I wanted to try something I have never made before so today I had a go at whoopie pies. A big hit in America and actually possibly easier to eat than a cupcake because of their 'sandwich' nature, I can tell you they are delicious! I made mine with melted chocolate in the middle, next time will make the traditional buttercream frosting. Some people close to me will be very happy later...

Bibi's birthday brownies!

I made a lot of brownies last week, namely for a not-so-little-anymore friend of mine, Bibi who became 14 last week and ordered some very special brownies with alternate white iced 'B's' and pale blue flowers.

Glow-in-the-dark edibles...

I'll be at this weekend's 'FIBER Festival' in Amsterdams 'Trouw' Building (former newspaper printworks) this weekend selling some groovy sweet and savoury baked goods. Today I've been doing some little experiments with edible glow-in-the-dark effects on marzipan. They are, if you ask me, cooler than cool and bloody awesome!! Beautiful marzipan

Marzipan is made all the more beautiful with the help of a polymer mould! They look like plastic but are actually edible and made from marzipan. My new favourite toy ;)
